Yarmouk Nature reserve – along the border with Palestine/Israel

Umm Qais is maybe 30-40 km away from where I was a week ago in Lebanon. In Lebanon I was very impressed when I was driving along the border with Israel. A wall and protection impossible to climb or get across. And now at another border not very far away. The wall between Israel and Jordan might be less high. Nevertheless it’s impossible to get over it. There are only very few border crossing possibilities between Jordan and Israel and in particular entering Israel is quite a hassle. I’m not going to Israel. Too complicated and added value to my trip rather low. If you want to ride completely along Jordan river (what is anyway not possible because of a several kilometer wide security zone) then it would be necessary to enter four countries to visit Jordan river on a stretch of only few ten’s of kilometers.

My ride today was not very long. And when I woke up in the morning it was raining, cold, and foggy. So, I did some sight seeing in Umm Qais (or known as Gadara as well) and drove then along Yarmouk river to Jordan EcoPark, a very nice and lush small forest in the green part of Jordan.
