Fairness in Swiss Water Management

Water is important for Switzerland in many respects: It is known as the European water tower and source of major European rivers like the Rhine, Rhone, Danube, and Po. Switzerland hosts very sophisticated hydro power production plants and swiss policy makers try to be very respectful towards the natural environment at the same time. Being one of the wealthiest countries globally, there are also many important international players from the food, engineering, and the financial sector with a global impact on water use and water availability in other countries.

peltonTogether with a photographer specialised in architecture, industry-, and landscape photography, we investigate the history and current practice with regard to water sharing, fairness, and potential conflicts in Switzerland.

In our joint project we aim at bringing together important Swiss players in the water sector. In addition, we aim at highlighting Switzerland’s old history when it comes to the juridical system, sharing mechanisms and humanitarian tradition.
